  • Fined £50m on 11 April 2024
On 11 April 2024, the Financial Conduct Authority (the FCA) issued a Final Notice to Link Fund Solutions Limited (Link). For the reasons given in the Final Notice, the FCA required Link to pay restitution of £298,403,919, or such lower sum as may be payable under a scheme of arrangement, to the LF Woodford Equity Income Fund (WEIF) for the benefit of current unitholders (“Relevant Investors”). This sum reflected losses suffered by Relevant Investors as a result of contraventions by Link of Principle 2 and Principle 6 of the Principles for Businesses. Link agreed to settle the case by implementing an appropriate scheme of arrangement under which it is expected that £230,000,000 of restitution will be payable. Were it not for this arrangement, the Authority would have proposed to impose on Link a financial penalty of £50,000,000. A copy of the Final Notice can be found on the Authority's website and can be accessed.
