During the Relevant Period the conduct of Scottish Equitable PLC fell below the standards expected under the regulatory system because it failed to take reasonable care to organise and control its affairs responsibly and effectively and failed to ensure that effective internal governance arrangements were in place to enable it to manage and monitor the risks its customers were exposed to in a number of areas in breach of the provisions of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (the Act).
